Sarah Barnaart

Sarah joined Henderson Reeves in 2023 and is an Associate in the firm’s Civil Litigation team. She specialises in relationship property and family violence matters, providing practical advice and effective representation to clients navigating complex and often sensitive legal issues.

Sarah has more than 15 years’ legal experience. She was admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of the Northern Territory in 2009 before relocating to New Zealand, where she was admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court in 2017. Having practised in Australia, the United Kingdom and New Zealand, Sarah brings a broad range of litigation experience to her role, including her work as a Crown prosecutor.

Committed to improving access to justice, Sarah was an inaugural recipient of a Borrin Foundation Community Law Fellowship and is undertaking postgraduate leadership study to further develop her contribution to the justice sector and the communities it serves.

Outside of work, Sarah enjoys spending time outdoors and gardening. She is also learning the cello and enjoys surfing or at least trying to stay upright on the board.
