With a history dating back nearly 40 years, Henderson Reeves Connell Rishworth is a well-recognised and trusted firm of Whangarei lawyers.
Since its establishment in the early 1970s, Henderson Reeves Connell Rishworth and its partners have actively contributed to the Whangarei community, including strong support for local business and the arts.
Stuart Henderson and Ian Reeves became partners in 1981. Under their leadership, the firm enjoyed successful growth, leading to a shift in 1992 from offices in Mansfield Terrace to larger premises on the top floor of the State Insurance building. At the same time, the firm acquired the practice of Peter Mahood.
Building on a strong reputation and excellent service, the firm has continued to expand over time. 2001 saw the acquisition of law firm Connell Rishworth, together with Lynch and Atkins. The Firm was renamed Henderson Reeves Connell Rishworth. In 2008, commercial law specialist Thomas Biss joined Stuart and Ian in partnership. Henderson Reeves incorporated and became a company in 2010. Litigator Jeremy Browne joined the firm in 2008 and became a Director in 2012. In 2015, Jamie Bourke became the firm’s first female Director followed by Amanda Morgan in 2018.
Looking to expand, Henderson Reeves opened an Auckland office in 2016 which initially consisted of two lawyers offering mobile services in Auckland with support staff based in Whangarei. The Auckland team currently has two lawyers, two legal executives and a new office in Kingsland. The firm is particularly proud of the fleet of electric cars driven by the Auckland team.
By 2019 the original staff of 6 had grown to a staff of 60. With Directors looking maintain the positive firm culture and create a structure which allowed them to focus on the practice of Law, Rod Parkinson was appointed to the new position of CEO.
Today, Henderson Reeves continues to provide quality legal advice in both Whangarei and Auckland and remains proud of its heritage and involvement in the local communities.
